Fountain pen made from an original spitfire propeller

£310.00

This is the star of our collection. The barrel and lid of this exquisite fountain pen has been machined from a section of decommissioned WWII Spitfire propeller blades in our propeller works. Developed by Hordern Richmond in the 1930’s, the material is called hydulignum, fine veneers of birch compressed together with a resin to create a very strong yet light material for propeller blades. The metallic components are machined from stainless steel here in England and given a subtle brushed finish, completed with a Gold plated Medium nib.

This fountain pen has the serial number of the original Spitfire propeller blade from which it was made engraved onto the barrel and comes in an English oak presentation box with a sliding lid. A fine piece of precision engineering and aviation history, this is a very special pen that will always be treasured.
